March 2026 Update
Despite a minor bug at the end of a mostly healthy month, I had a great time balancing a peaceful meditation retreat with a busy schedule of live music, cultural events, and working on GenXtoday.
Health
This month was thankfully doctor-free. I did catch a small bug in the final week. It was milder than usual, but the congestion and issues with my throat and swallowing made sleeping difficult. Even though no doctors it still felt like an expensive month though as I had to top up my prescriptions :-).
On a more positive note, I did the Silent Meditation retreat at Happy Buddha. If it was a test to see if I am a little more chilled these days, I think I came through with flying colours. I wrote a review on GenXtoday about what the experience involved, which you can read here
Looking ahead, this month I will have another dose of Immunotherapy and a round of Surgeon and oncology checks. I also am planning to put more effort into improving my activity levels. I feel like I have gone a little backwards fitness-wise as I battle recent lethargy.
Personal
The month was busy with plenty of fun things.
I managed to balance socialising and exercise with a few good walks. Also, with Kirsten not working this month, we took a couple of opportunities to unwind at the Bathhouse.
The silent meditation retreat on the 8th in the Blue Mountains was a highlight and really felt like a holiday. It was also good to take the opportunity while I was up there to catch up with family friends.
Live music and entertainment were prominent. The first week featured De La Soul and Basement Jaxx. I kept the things going mid-month with Faithless and Sydney Rose, and then wrapped things up with a great jazz performance by the Zela Margossian Quintet. I also managed to get some theatre culture in by seeing the My Brilliant Career musical.
On the cultural front, a friend and I visited the NSW at Night exhibition at Parliament House and the Paper Universe: The book as art display at the NSW State Library.
On top of all that, I took a Street Photography course to sharpen my camera skills (here are a few of the photos) and Zoe, Lexi and I went out into the weird weather to do a photography challenge down at Dee Why. I also got my sports fix by attending the Kings Finals and the Roosters versus Panthers game.
I continue to work on GenXtoday. Although I don't have as much time to work on it as I would like, I am trying to build it into something that can make a little bit of revenue to help subsidise my medical costs. If you have not already, it would be great if you could subscribe to the Newsletter. A HUGE thank you to the few of you who have gone that extra step and become a supporter. It is really much appreciated!
Looking back it was a much busier month than I realised! Now on to April
