Overdue March, April update

Its been a while since I have posted, no reason in particular just that I have not been as disciplined as I let life catch-up with me and have been a bit busy. I am more sorry to myself about that than anything as life has got busy and my goal is to stop that from happening so I can live with less stress and better health at a speed that lets me slow down and smell the roses as they say 🙂
The Health
Things have been positive health wise over the last few months. I continue to have monthly scopes with my surgeon, Immunotherapy treatment every three weeks and work through the ins and outs of colitis.
I also had in the last few months my PET scan which I have every 12 weeks and that was clear too!
The only thing of interest for me has been the journey with my colitis that started to get very bad in early April – however on April 4th I started taking significant doses of Probiotics (PERKii to be specific) and changed to Hi PH level water and that has bought my colitis back to being under control. I still suffer from diarrhoea daily but it is much better than what it was.
For those interested in studies around this check this one out re colitis re hi PH level and Probiotics and its effect on cancer
There is always things that I can do to improve my percentages so my next action is to start to build muscle as this is said to help with immunotherapy, so this week I start with a fitness program to-do that. I expect it will make me even more tired than I am day-to-day but I am hopeful that it will be worth it.
The Personal
Life’s a marathon, not a sprint – especially when I have to balance energy, rest, and making time for the things that truly make me happy. Prioritising my moments isn’t just good for my mood, I think it’s essential for my health.
That being said, I still wrestle with guilt knowing that there’s always more work to do, people to get back to and more ways to be productive. But at the end of the day, recharging is part of the process, not a distraction from it.
So, if you’re waiting on me for something, know that I am doing my best. I appreciate your patience, and I promise I’m moving forward – just at my own pace!
Having said the above I did manage to-do a lot of exciting and satisfying things through March and April and surprised me with how much I managed to squeeze in. The highlights:
Concerts: Kicked things off with Elderbrook’s beats, moshed through Green Day’s anthems, and got a little cultured at the CUBA Opera House.
Comedy: Comedy had a focus with the Comedy Festival events a summary was: Taffys brought the wit, Dave Hughes the sarcasm, Akmal the chaos, Jimeoin the charm, and Arj Barker the deep existential chuckles.
Movies: A cinematic rollercoaster featuring Bob Dylan mysteries (A Complete Unknown), Disney family fun (Snow White), a bit of Mafia (Alto Nights), and a touch of Greek storytelling (Stelios). I would recommend all of them!
Musicals: The MJ Experience which surpassed all expectations, got mythical with Hadestown, and had family fun with Les Misérables, the soundtrack of which is now on repeat in the house :-).
Family Time: Three dinners with loved ones, some quality time with Dad who came for a visit from NZ and help with some well overdue property maintenance, a Manly v Raiders showdown and, to top it all off, Dua Lipa that made for the ultimate family bonding experience.
Travel: We had a relaxing family Easter trip to Crowdy Heads with friends and I also made it to Melbourne for a few days for a overdue catch-up with some close friends.
And, of course, Greek Easter made its grand appearance full of feasting, family, and possibly an Olympic-level consumption of lamb (not by me of course).
Phew that’s a lot but it is over 13 weeks so I suppose not too crazy, what maybe crazy though is that I have started a photography course, its only a couple of hours a week, but is something I have always been passionate about. It is also something that I have chosen to prioritise not only as a creative outlet but also as a shared passion with my children, who have embraced the process with enthusiasm. It allows me to document my life through images while building a collection of photos to edit and process, providing me with something engaging to focus on should I find myself health-bound again. I’ve attended two classes so far and am thoroughly enjoying the experience. A special thanks to Nick for lending me his camera and helping me get started on this journey.
Till the next time
