Greekology – Food

In Greekology, we think of food as a source of health, energy, and happiness. There are many sources to find information on food that will bring you great health and balance. The right combination of those foods is up to you. However, these are the principles and diet you should follow to maximize outcomes:

  • Follow a Mediterranean diet.
  • Ensure high fiber in your diet in the morning by eating grains and/or fruit if possible.
  • Have berries by themselves or in a smoothie.
  • Eat broccoli daily.
  • Use lots of olive oil and incorporate other healthy fats like avocados, nuts, and seeds.
  • Keep your immune system strong with garlic and also take vitamin C supplements.
  • Start the day off with 1 liter of water.
  • Eat food you enjoy.

Good practices for eating for energy:

Allow time to prepare your food. You may find that you are avoiding eating healthy food not because you don’t like it, but because it takes longer to prepare.

By allowing time to prepare your food, you can add those little extras and combine ingredients that make your food taste great.

If you’re conscious about weight, stay focused on portion control to avoid overeating.

Limit processed foods and, where possible, reduce overconsumption of processed meats and sugary drinks. This not only helps with energy but is a key ingredient in preventing diseases like cancer.

Why do this?

What you eat has a significant effect on keeping your energy levels steady all day long. Plus, munching on foods that boost your immune system and have anti-cancer properties might help lower your risk of various health issues and just make you feel better overall.
